Meet Our Health Experts

Karen Bullington, MD

Dr. Karen Bullington earned her undergraduate degrees in Chemistry and Biology from Ouachita Baptist University in Arkansas in 1985. She spent one year working in the Los Alamos New Mexico National Laboratory in the area of medical research and then earned her Medical Degree from the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque in 1990. She completed her residency training in Ft. Worth, Texas and became Board Certified in Family Practice in 1993. She is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians.

In 2005 Dr. Bullington joined the Fibromyalgia and Fatigue Center of Atlanta as an attending physician and began to specialize in the use of bio-identical hormone therapies along with the evaluation and treatment of Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. She received intensive training from Dr. Kent Holtorf and from Dr. Jacob Teitelbaum. She has extensive experience in the use of bio-identical hormones, management of thyroid and adrenal disorders, use of natural supplements, and treatment of chronic infections including Lyme disease.

During the first 10 years of her career, Dr. Bullington served as a medical missionary with the Southern Baptist Convention in several Latin American countries including Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, and on the border with Mexico. Her work as a missionary included running free clinics in poor villages, making house calls, providing basic health education and working to improve health care in the inner-city slums. She, her husband and their three children continue to serve in missions by taking groups on mission trips 1 to 3 times per year.


Dr. Bullington currently lives in Woodstock, Georgia with her husband and children. Her personal interests include martial arts (she is a fourth-degree black belt in Taekwondo), snow skiing, church activities, mission trips, traveling, reading, and listening to music. She is fluent in Spanish.

Angel Nofziger, NP

Angel completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Ohio State University in 2007. She worked in Women’s Services at Northside Hospital in Atlanta, GA while pursuing her graduate degree from Georgia State University. Angel graduated with a master’s in science in Nursing in 2010 and received board certifications as an Adult Nurse Practitioner, Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner, and Perinatal Clinical Specialist. 

Angel brings with her 13 years of experience in Alternative and Functional medicine and has extensive training in bioidentical hormone replacement, hypothyroidism and Hashimoto’s, adrenal fatigue, leaky gut, chronic infections, Lyme disease, mold toxicity, IV therapy, ozone, food allergies, autoimmune disease, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, nutrition, and nutraceuticals/supplements. Angel is also highly experienced in hormone pellet therapy for the administration of estrogen and testosterone. Hormone pellets are bioidentical hormones placed under the skin that time release into the blood over the course of about 4 months. Angel is also a certified NAET practitioner (Nambudripad’s Allergy Elimination Technique) This painless, non-invasive treatment incorporates applied kinesiology (muscle testing) and acupressure to eliminate energy blockages from the body that may come from food intolerances, infections, mold, chemicals, toxins, heavy metals, environmental allergies, emotions, trauma/PTSD, or any other block that interferes with the body’s flow of energy and functioning.

 

Angel currently resides in the suburbs of Atlanta with her son. She enjoys cooking, exercising, peloton, reading, meditation, nature, sports, and almost anything that is adventurous. She thoroughly enjoys working in the field of alternative medicine and sees it as her calling. Angel enjoys pursuing this field of natural medicine and takes great pleasure in being able to coach her patients into healthy lifestyles and watching as they go through their healing journey. The one piece of advice she would like all patients to have is that there is always hope and there are always answers, you just have to keep pursuing them.
